Monaco has been on our bucket list for a long time, so when we recently visited Nice for our 2nd Wedding anniversary we just had to take full advantage and visit. Monaco is located on the French Riviera, but is actually a country in its own right and is the richest country in the world per capita. Which is pretty amazing seeing as it only has a population of 38.5 thousand people.
We recently took a trip to Nice to celebrate our second wedding anniversary, and couldn't resist spending the day exploring beautiful Monaco!
And just look at the views...

Of course, all trips to Monaco must include a visit and obligatory photo at the famoCasinoion Monte-Carlo. You can go inside the casino which is an amazing sight to see, but if you'd like to gamble, you'll need to come back after 2pm and bring your passport with you too.

If you're not the gambling type, perhaps you'd rather do a spot of shopping. Monaco is littered with high-fashion designer brands and boutiques. We weren't here for shopping, but that didn't stop me staring longingly into the windows at Chanel.
I'll take a small classic flap in Black if you're offering...?
You'll notice as you wander that Monaco is full of tourists, and it can be a bit much. I advise heading along the coast to Larvotto beach to take a break from the crowds. We took some time to enjoy the warm sunshine and paddle in the clear water over a picnic lunch.

Along with the famous F1 tracks, Monaco is also famous for its ports full of million-dollar yachts. Even if you're not that into boats, you can't help but be in awe of the graduate of these ports. We love boats, so we spent a fair amount of time watching them move in and out of the port, and the boat staff going about prepping the decks ready for their owners.
This post is starting to get a bit long, so I've decided to split our Monaco trip into two, so check out part two here!
